100+ Women Who Care Ames Raises $12,200 for Legal Aid in a Single Night
There is something pretty remarkable about what can happen when a group of women who care about their community decide to act together.
The Legal Aid Society of Story County was honored to be selected as the recipient of a $12,200 gift from 100+ Women Who Care Ames—funds raised in a single evening by a group of community-minded women who understand that individual generosity, when combined, can have an extraordinary local impact.
The concept behind 100+ Women Who Care is beautifully simple: members gather, learn about local nonprofits and the needs they are addressing, select an organization together, and each make an individual contribution. No elaborate fundraising campaign. No months of planning. Just community members pooling their generosity to make an immediate and meaningful difference.
For Legal Aid, that collective generosity became $12,200 to support free civil legal services for our Story County neighbors who cannot afford an attorney. It will help our attorneys continue representing local families facing issues involving housing, family stability, safety, guardianship, financial hardship, and other civil legal needs.
But this award represents something more than its dollar amount. Every contribution came from someone in our community who chose to invest in another Story County resident whom she may never meet.
To the women of 100+ Women Who Care Ames: thank you. You demonstrated the extraordinary impact that ordinary people can have when they come together around a shared commitment to their community. In a single evening, your individual acts of generosity became a $12,200 investment in access to justice for your Story County neighbors. We are incredibly grateful that you chose Legal Aid.
